Overproduction:
To make products that have not been ordered.

Inventory:
The excess of raw materials, materials in-process or final product.

Transportation:
To move the materials in-process for long distances for the operations within the plant, or to transport it from plant to plant.

Defects:
Include making pieces or products out of the specifications, its correction or manipulation and the reposition of the defective material.

Movement:
Refers to the unnecessary and uncomfortable or non-ergonomic movements of the operators.

Rework:
Refers to doing unnecessary operations according to the specifications of the product.

Waiting times:
Include the waiting times of operators or machines for different reasons be it the lack of available materials, failures, bottlenecks, among others.



NOT ALL wastes can be completely eliminated, but it can always improve the present situation. Waste elimination allows us to DO MORE WITH LESS:

  • Less capital investment.
  • Less internal space occupied, less effort of the operators.
  • Less direct and indirect labour.
  • Less inventory.
  • Less total processing time (TPCT).
